About
I’m Chelsea Greenwood Eversole, founder of Evergreen Editing. I am a multitalented, exacting editor specializing in Christian writing, literary nonfiction, travel writing, sci-fi/fantasy, and all things genre-bending. I offer editorial work to authors at all stages of the book-writing process. Whether you need a developmental edit to organize and structure your text, a line edit to polish and highlight your unique voice, or a final proofread before heading to the printers, I am here for you. I pride myself on precise communication, transparent pricing, and never missing a due date.
Reading, writing, and generally making stuff have been important to me my whole life–they’ve led me to write blogs, paint pictures, cut my own bangs, and work as a pianist in musical theaters and churches all over Seattle. But my editing career began in earnest at the end of 2019, when I published my own book. Becoming an author made me eager to explore the book-making process through the eyes of an editor. Over the last five years, I’ve been dedicating myself to studying and practicing book editing in its many forms, working and learning under brilliant, seasoned editors and pursuing additional education independently. In 2023, my editing side hustle became my full-time job, and Evergreen Editing was born in early 2024. I am an active member of both the Northwest Editors Guild and the Editorial Freelancers Association, which connect me to the wide world of publishing professionals and plenty of ongoing education.
I’ve had the honor of working on about 100 books in various capacities, so if you are a prospective client, let’s chat about whether I’d be a good fit for your needs. In addition to the technical prowess and clear communication all of us editors aim to provide, I’m especially useful if you are 1) new to writing books, working with an editor, or self-publishing (as a fellow indie author, I know where you’re coming from!) and/or 2) have a text requiring odd or niche knowledge that falls within my areas of expertise.
I’m an alum of Vassar College, where I studied world religions and classics and graduated with general honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I live in Seattle, Washington, with a linguist husband named Nate and a black cat named Benry. The “Evergreen” in my business name is a portmanteau of our last names, Greenwood and Eversole, as well as a nod to my beloved home state of Washington, whose shores, forests, and mountains you can find me exploring in my spare time.
